Independent Advocacy Named Selections' Partner of the Year 2021

Earlier this year, Independent Advocacy was awarded partner of the year by Selections Career Support Services. Selections considers who among their partners is the most engaged in the job finding process, as well as who most represents their values as a company. We started our partnership with Selections earlier this year in May and this has resulted in a flood of job opportunities for those individuals seeking employment!

With Covid-19 lockdowns and health protocols in place, it was difficult to know how to proceed in approaching businesses. Many of our individuals lacked the types of job experience that would give them a shot at even the bottom rung of the current job market. So we were thankful when Selections contacted us to see if we were interested in participating in their new grant-funded program to get adults with disabilities back to work. Were we ever! And Selections delivered! They found not just any job position – but positions and opportunities that were perfectly tailored to that particular individual. While we were not able to always fulfill the total promise of every opportunity, this partnership with Selections resulted in crucial gains and experience for everyone who participated.

What qualified us for the award was the diligent efforts of our staff: Team Managers, Team Leaders, and Community Disability Support Practitioners who helped prompt, guide, and advocate for these individuals and made sure they were able to meet their own obligations and the expectations of employers. Thank you to everyone who helped with this. This award is a recognition of your efforts!

Many thanks to Erin Lee and Pablo Castro who were our valuable coordinators at Selections.
